Seven Trends for Fashion Week That We Already Know Will Be Huge

We may expect a brand-new season of runway shows and the introduction of the collections that designers have been working on as fashion month approaches. But there’s more than that. Street style is making a comeback during fashion month, and experts will be scouting out some of the coolest trends that are predicted to be hot coming autumn. The style crowd is already making plans for their outfits even though the runway shows are still a month away. I was interested to get a sneak peek at what would be seen on the streets of NYC, London, Milan, and Paris.It is certain that the street style scene is going to be extremely fashionable this fall, drawing on everyone from stylists to fashion directors at the top luxury boutiques to Who What Wear’s very own editors. There will soon be plenty of sartorial inspiration to feast your eyes on, from fresh takes on classics to daring sheer gowns currently reserved for their fashion week displays. “Everyone who knows me is aware of my aversion to trends and tendency toward minimalism, yet I truly adore giving timeless objects a fresh look. This season, the skirt suit is at the top of my want list because it was a recurring trend on the runways. Generally speaking, tailoring runs the danger of appearing too serious, so depending on the length of the skirt, I’ll balance it off with a trainer or a pair of color-pop ballerina flats. My favorite variations were those by Jil Sander and Miu Miu since they really really nail the proportions so the set doesn’t seem too completely office-related.” — Reynolds

On the F/W 22 runway:

“I’m going to make the most of the current transparent clothing trend as much as I can, starting with this dress by Aya Muse that I recently purchased on sale, because it’ll still be really hot in New York City during fashion week in September. “During fashion week, I intend to wear a chain belt. I’ll wear the belt with either a maxi skirt or a pair of denim jeans. I’m drawing influence from styles I wore back in the 1990s and when I was younger. In order to dress up my simple outfits, I’m going to add a golden Loewe chain belt and my Gucci GG slingback heels.” — Mus

“Though I am gravitating toward classic styles and components more and more, I’ve recently been obsessed with baggy jeans. I adore wearing them with a bodysuit, a statement belt, and, if it’s freezing, a blazer.” The Boublil

The Trend: Pretty Things

“I’m enthused about a lot of trends this season, but the return of romantic clothing has my heart. The F/W 22 collections featured a lot of lovely items, such as the satin bralettes combined with matching ballerina flats from Miu Miu and the ruffled translucent slip dresses from Fendi. In all honesty, in my humble opinion, this trend is the best one to wear at fashion week. I’m ravenous for beauty, so give me all the ruffles, satin, sequins, and feathers. I believe I’d add some edge to the more feminine items by either wearing them with tough leathers or even more grunge-inspired things. Imagine wearing a feather dress with platform boots, a moto jacket, and jewelry.” the Fox-Suliaman

The Trend: Purple

“I’m totally ready to accept purple. It’s a divisive color, I know, but fall will feature it whether you like it or not. We had to quickly reevaluate whether the hue deserves a place in our wardrobes for autumn and beyond after seeing lilac outfits from everyone from Bottega Veneta to Khaite and Stella McCartney walk the catwalk. I adore how the hue transitions from being breezy and light in the summer (looking at you, NYFW) to being chilly and edgier in the winter (follow Khaite’s lead and contrast with inky black sequins or patent leather). Its adaptability has been shown by designers, who provide a wide variety of colours for every skin tone as well as different methods to combine it into a style.” The Hambro

“It normally seems like summer during September’s fashion week, but I’m not going to let that stop me from showcasing the hottest trend for fall—heavy duty leather. I can’t wait for it to get cooler outside so I can wear my own interpretation of the huge leather jacket I saw all over the catwalks last season. The aforementioned jacket, a white tank, and a micro tiny skirt make up a style I know I’ll wear. In my ideal world, I would complete the look with a pair of Balenciaga Cagole mules to complete the look from head to toe.” The Mayhew
